ESL
The Advising & Learning Assistance Center offers English as a Second Language (ESL) services to Rensselaer's academic community, offering classes with a primary focus on presentations, group discussions, listening and note-taking, and writing skills needed for an American classroom, as well as living in the United States. Classes are free, but students must receive the permission from the instructor to participate.
The Center is also responsible for screening international graduate teaching assistants in regard to their ability to understand and speak English, and provide classes for those who do not meet the Institute's requirements.
Workshops in Speaking English
- Do you want to improve your spoken English?
- Do you want to learn about American culture?
- Do you want to talk with people from other countries?
If so, come to a new program for language learners. Learn about a topic, then talk in small groups. Open to student, faculty, visting scholars, staff, adult family members. You do not need to do any homework, and will not be graded. You can expect to have fun and laugh with others.
